Last November, our world changed.
In November last year, my fiancée was diagnosed with cancer. It was a moment that stopped time, replaced certainty with questions, and reshaped every part of our daily lives. What followed was a year defined by courage, resilience, and love in its truest form.
There were months of major surgery, followed by tough and relentless chemotherapy. Days blurred into hospital appointments, recovery milestones, setbacks, and small wins that meant everything. Like so many families walking this path, we learned to live scan to scan, treatment to treatment, holding onto hope even when the road felt impossibly steep.
This November brought news we had dared to wish for.
The latest scans showed no evidence of cancer.
Those words don’t erase what we’ve been through, but they mark the beginning of something new. A chance to breathe again. A chance to slowly settle back into life without cancer dominating every decision, every plan, every conversation.
Because of this, we’ve made a very intentional choice.
A short pause for what matters most
We will be closing the business from December 16th to January 5th.
This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. Our business has been a constant through some of the hardest moments of the past year, and we’re deeply grateful for the support, kindness, and understanding you’ve shown us throughout.
This short break is about:
-
Spending quality, uninterrupted time together
-
Relearning what “normal” looks like after a year of survival mode
-
Celebrating life beyond treatment and hospital walls
-
And beginning to plan our wedding — something that once felt heartbreakingly uncertain
Cancer changes you. Even when treatment ends, the adjustment back to everyday life takes time. This pause allows us to honour that transition with care, gratitude, and intention.
If you’ve followed our journey through our cancer diary, you’ll know this year has been about more than illness — it’s been about love, partnership, and finding light in the darkest moments. This next chapter is about healing forward.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience, your support, and for being part of our story.
We’ll be back in January, rested, hopeful, and ready for everything this new chapter brings.
Orders can still be placed while we're closed, and we'll pick these up as soon as we're back in the office.
With gratitude,
Jo-Anne & Tony
